So, today is our last day in Turkey and I am sad to be leaving! I always feel like once I get to know my way around the country and start to feel comfortable we leave! Oh well.. we still 3 more ports! I can't believe we're down to only 3!!! AND.... I just looked at the date and it's July 22.. we have excatly a month left which means this trip is more than half over! That's crazyy!!
This morning I woke up and went to breakfast, and then headed off the boat to the Bazaar for the last time! I ended up buying a lot there today because it wasn't nearly as crowded as it was the first day because we went so early, so that was nice. Still, though, I was being called names like "angel" and a few guys even told me I dropped something and when I went to look down they said "my heart" hahahaha.. Turkish men are quite interesting I would have to say!! After spending awhile at the Grand Bazaar, we went to the Spice Bazaar which is waaaaay smaller and they mostly have food and spices, hence the name of it.. Through both the Grand and Spice Bazaars, I ended up getting quite a few things.. I got some turkish tea which is faabulous, turkish delight, a bracelt, a really pretty scarf thing they wear here, a shirt and i forget what else.. but I was happy with my purchases!
After the long morning of Bazaare madness.. I took all my bags to my room and then headed off the boat for the last time to the resteraunt across the street where you can get free wifi. I had gotten some wifi earlier in turkey, but it wasn't good at all.. so I figured I should try again.. and it was much better!!! I got some researching done and uploaded my last sets of pictures from Italy.. and then so many SAS people were there and on the internet that it started to get slow and I didn't have time to finish uploading, but that's ok I atleast got some up!!
Once I was done with the wifi, it was time to step off turkish ground for the last time and get back on our boat :( I really did enjoy turkey, it wasn't what I had expected at all. In our briefing before we got here, we learned about all the terrorism going on in Turkey and how the crime rate is really high. Last year 4 days before the summer SAS voyage got to Turkey, a major bombing occurred so they didn't even get to come here because of it. We were warned a lot about terrorism and not going out at night, so it was scary and the only reason I am saying this now is because I am safe and on the ship and nothing happened to me while I was in Turkey.. I didn't want to say this before I got to Turkey so everyone would be freaking out.. but thankfully no bombings occured and I am safe!!
Now, I am off to finish up my homework since i have class tomorrow :( yuckk!! And i think we may fit in a game of catch-phrase tonight with some friends before actually finishing my homework... haha!
PS. I just realized that it is exactly 1 month before we disembark in Norfolk, Virginia... and this was a sad discovery because as of now.. I am most definately not ready to leave the ship! I wish this was my college all year round, that would be amazing :)
